"THE ULTIMATE AIM OF KARATE LIES NEITHER IN VICTORY NOR DEFEAT, BUT IN THE PERFECTION OF CHARACTER OF ITS PARTICIPANTS"
Master Gichin Funakoshi: (1868-1957)
Karate Do-is the art of the empty hand where one utilizes blocks, kicks, strikes and punches to defend oneself; it can be practiced as a method of self-defense, a sport, a method of physical fitness and as an art developing the mind and body.
The Do of Karate-Do is the path a karate practitioner should strive to follow by applying the character building principles set forth by Master Gichin Funakoshi which are: CHARACTER,
SINCERITY, EFFORT, ETIQUETTE AND SELF CONTROL.
